Great tutorial! On a Mac the installation worked perfect with an ESP32-DevKitC. I’m really grateful for your work. I’m sure I would have gone lost without it.
Please continue with further ESP-IDF tutorials. Particularly I’d appreciate a tutorial about an ESP-IDF project that installs a function on the ESP32 which is called from code running on the pc/mac (in case there is no such example already provided).

Just to confirm that uninstalling and then re-installing VSCode and Python finally enabled me to install ESP-IDF. I can now start programming my ESP-C3 again. I was able to do this with Arduino IDE, but VSCode does make it all a lot simpler. Thank you, Don.

I actually solved my initial problem by not using VSCode at all, but instead following the RandomNerd instructions for ESP32 Webservers, which seem to work for the ESP32-C3 as well. However, I have previously found VSCode with Platformio so useful, that I will now try to load VSCode with ESP-IDF again. As regards CoPilot, I find it very useful for showing me what I am doing wrong, which saves me having to ask the Santos every time I do something stupid. CoPilot is far quicker!

I am using Windows 10. My first attempt to get ESP-IDF to work with VSCode failed. Rui suggested that I uninstall Python and ESP-IDF and reinstall them. I had previously installed ESP-IDF. I uninstalled that earlier version, uninstalled my latest 2 downloads of Python, and reran the installation process. It seems to work fine now. I still don’t trust CoPilot. I have been led astray by so many AIs that I don’t rely on what they say.
